## Why an email QR beats a form

An email QR opens the user's own mail client with everything pre-filled — they keep a copy of what they sent, and the message lands in your inbox from a real address you can reply to. No form, no captcha, no friction.

Use the mailto: URI scheme with optional subject and body parameters. Every modern mobile OS honors it.

The structural advantage over a web form is ownership of the thread. A form submission is a one-way packet into your database; an email creates a two-sided conversation where the sender has your address, a sent-items record, and a reply channel. For anything relationship-shaped — sales inquiries, partnership requests, support cases — the email thread is the better artifact, and the QR removes the address-typing friction that used to make forms win.

Encoding is the detail that breaks amateur mailto links: everything after the '?' must be percent-encoded. Spaces become %20, '#' becomes %23 (unencoded, it truncates the URI), '&' inside a value becomes %26, apostrophes %27. The classic failure is 'Order #' in a subject line — the raw '#' silently chops the rest of the URI on many parsers. This generator encodes for you; just re-test if you ever hand-edit.

Pre-fill the body as a prompt, not a script. A skeleton like 'Property of interest: 123 Main St — My question: ' respects that the sender will write their own words while ensuring the message arrives with the context you need. Fully pre-written bodies feel robotic and get rewritten anyway; empty bodies produce 'hi' emails missing every detail.

One deliverability reality: the mail arrives from the user's own account, so it passes spam filtering the way form-generated notification emails often don't. The trade-off is device dependence — a phone with no configured mail app (rarer every year, but real) will fumble the mailto. For high-stakes placements, print the address in small text under the QR as a human-readable fallback.
