# LinkPilot support

## Slack app and common questions

### The Slack command says Connect LinkPilot.

Each person connects their own LinkPilot API key once. Press the button, create a key at uselinkpilot.com/app/api-keys (every plan has them, including Free), paste it, and run the command again. Connect links expire after 15 minutes; run the command again for a fresh one.

### Slack says LinkPilot rejected your API key.

The key was revoked or replaced. Connect again with a current one from uselinkpilot.com/app/api-keys.

### Slack says your LinkPilot plan does not allow that.

You have reached a limit of your plan, such as the Free plan's link cap. The message includes the upgrade link.

### Did the channel see my secret?

No. /secret replies only to you. The channel sees a link, and only if you press Post to channel. The text is never posted.

### How safe is a secret created from Slack?

The text is encrypted by our Slack service in memory and only ciphertext is stored; the key is in the link's # fragment, which browsers never send to servers. The text does pass through Slack and our service, so for anything where that matters, create the link in the web app, where encryption happens in your own browser.

### How do I remove the Slack app?

Uninstall it from Slack's app settings. That deletes the workspace record and every stored connection at once. You can also revoke your API key at any time at uselinkpilot.com/app/api-keys.

### I lost a secret link. Can you recover the secret?

No. The decryption key only ever existed in the link, so nobody can recover the text, including us. That is the guarantee working, not a gap. Create a new secret.
