# Share a password securely

## The secure way to share passwords: one link, one view

Sharing a password means handing a copy to someone else and trusting every place that copy lands. A one-time link removes the copy once it has been read. Paste the password above, send the link, and the recipient's first reveal destroys the stored ciphertext. Anyone who finds the link afterwards, in a thread or an old email, sees a burned notice.

The encryption happens on your device with AES-GCM-256. The key sits after the # in the link, a part of a URL that browsers keep to themselves, so LinkPilot never has what it would need to read the password.

## How to share a password securely with a coworker, a client or a contractor

Send the link in whatever channel you already use. Then tell the person to open it now and store the password in their own password manager, because the link will not work twice.
