## How it works

Browser-side encryption shipped on 29 September 2026. Secrets created before that date were stored as plaintext until they expired, and a file's name, size and type are still visible to us. Read the full security model (https://uselinkpilot.com/security-architecture).

## A one-time note in three steps

Write the note above and press the button. The text is encrypted in your browser with AES-GCM-256 and the key is kept in the link after the #, so LinkPilot stores only ciphertext. Send the link however you like. The reader opens it, presses reveal, reads the note, and the stored copy is destroyed as part of that reveal.

## Self-destructing notes for everyday hand-offs

A note like this suits anything that should be read once and not kept: the alarm code for the house-sitter, a gift card number, a client's temporary login, instructions you would rather not have forwarded. The reader needs a browser and nothing else. An unread note expires after seven days; a free account lets you shorten that to one hour or 24 hours and revoke a note before it is read.
