# Password Pusher alternative

LinkPilot does the same job as pwpush, encrypts in your browser, and runs inside a workspace with short links.

No account needed. Free forever plan.

## How it works

1. 01
   ### Paste a password, a key, or a file
Encrypted in your browser before anything is sent. Burn after read is on for every anonymous secret.
2. 02
   ### Send the link
One URL. The key after the # stays in the browser and never reaches our servers.
3. 03
   ### The stored secret is gone
The first open burns the ciphertext. A second visit, by anyone, meets the destroyed page.

Browser-side encryption shipped on 29 September 2026. Secrets created before that date were stored as plaintext until they expired, and a file's name, size and type are still visible to us. Read the full security model (https://uselinkpilot.com/security-architecture).

## Why people look for a Password Pusher alternative

Password Pusher, often written pwpush or pw push, is a well-regarded open-source tool for sharing a password through an expiring link. Its homepage describes the flow as paste your secret, set your rules, share the link, with expiry by views, by time or both, an optional passphrase, file attachments, and permanent deletion once a push is viewed or expired. It is free to use without an account, and the community edition is free to self-host.

People go looking for an alternative for a few recurring reasons: they want the encryption to happen in their own browser rather than on a server, they want a hosted product with a workspace, roles and a per-secret audit timeline, or they want secret links and branded short links in the same place.

## What LinkPilot does differently

The main difference is where the secret is encrypted. LinkPilot encrypts in your browser with AES-GCM-256 and places the key after the # in the link, so our servers hold ciphertext and no key. Password Pusher's homepage says pushes are AES-256 encrypted and that its security-critical code is open source and auditable; as of the check date it does not say whether that encryption happens in the browser or on the server, so we make no claim either way.

Beyond that, LinkPilot is a workspace: team roles, revocation from a dashboard, file attachments encrypted the same way as text, branded short links with analytics on a separate pipeline, and on Pro a passphrase mixed into the decryption key plus an audit timeline of every view, burn and revoke.

## When Password Pusher is the better fit

If you need to self-host, choose Password Pusher: LinkPilot is a hosted service only. If you need a link that allows several views before it expires, Password Pusher's view counts do that and LinkPilot's secrets burn on the first reveal. And if you prefer a single-purpose tool with nothing else attached, pwpush is exactly that and does it well.
